OET is the world’s only international English language test designed specifically for healthcare professionals OET results are accepted by the healthcare boards, councils and universities in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Malta, Namibia and Singapore.
Also accepted in Australia and New Zealand for visa and immigration purposes, while doctors and nurses in the UK are not required to take a separate English test when applying for a Tier 2 (General) visa if they have already provided OET results as proof of English proficiency to their healthcare regulator.by Australia Home Affairs and UK immigration for tier 2 visas.
OET evaluates candidates on four sub-skills i.e Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.

LISTENING: 40 to 50 mins.
Two Parts:
PART A - a conversation between doctor and patient.
PART B - short workplace extracts
READING: 60 mins
PART A – expeditious (fast) reading task 15 minutes
PART B and PART C – careful reading tasks (45 mins)
WRITING: 45mins. The student has to write a healthcare letter, usually a referral letter.
SPEAKING: 20mins approximately. The student has to participate in two role-plays as per the situation in the question paper. Everything is recorded.
The Reading and Listening sub-tests are the same for all professions, however, Writing and Speaking is profession-specific.
